Man arrested for killing, burning girlfriend in South Africa

Karobo Mokoena was murdered and burnt by a man she loved

A South African man has been arrested for allegedly murdering his girlfriend, Karabo Mokoena, and burning her body to avoid detection.

Citizen reports that Karobo had been declared missing on April 28, 2017, and after a long search, her body was found by the police and after investigations, the boyfriend was arrested.

According to the victim's father, Tshepo Mokoena, his daughter had been missing for two weeks before

her body was recovered. The bereaved father who confirmed that the discovered body was that of his daughter, told reporters that the suspect had already murdered her before setting the body on fire.

One of the victim's close friends, Stephanie Long who had been active in giving updates on the situation on her Twitter account with the handle @Steph_Long, had been posting Karabo’s pictures on social media, asking for people to help her find her friend.

Shortly after she was declared missing, Long posted this message a photo of the missing Karabo:

“My friend has been missing since about April 28. If you have seen her, please let me know.”

After days of searching for her, her father confirmed on Facebook that his daughter had been found dead and her body burnt. He alleged that someone close to his daughter confessed to him that they had killed Karabo and burnt her body.
