Dino
Melaye, the FCT prefect has come again with one his very audacious
orders saying that the police should stop prostitutes from parading
themselves on Abuja streets.
The interesting
thing is that he said the Senate has entered a deal with commercial
banks to beautify roads in Abuja, and it made crossed 'our' mind that
the so called prostitutes could be employed to do the jobs.
Well,
the normal government magic na, we go hear say a press release was
issued to that effect, but haters
decided not to publish it. Then
everyone pulls out the #FakeNews card.
This
is a clear evidence of how our politicians and lawmakers enact policies
only for themselves without considering who it affects or how the
people will react.
Senator sir, what do you want
these girls to do when you take them off the streets? Do you want them
to line up at your doorsteps for photo-shoots in your expensive rides?
Or na make dem come dey shake tongolo for you for house, abi na free lap dance dem go do?
One would have thought that you would have partnered with NAPTIP – National Agency for the Prohibition and Trafficking in Persons to draw out a plan to empower them and gradually get them out of the streets.
Anyway,
this prim and proper political consciousness rhetoric no be my matter
today. What is funny, is the fact that he asked the police to stop
prostitutes from selling their market in the street.
Oga!
who wan catch who? Police wan catch them abi na olosho go hol police?
You carry yam go give goat say make him keep am safely for you. Wahala!
Anyway, these so called prostitutes now have an association through which they air their opinion on issues that matter to them.
So,
baba Melaye, if you do not want these girls to come to your office with
placards and throw condoms at you, kindly look for a way to discuss
with them and offer alternatives that will keep them occupied.
Bros
why you dey do like say him no know say after a hard day’s work of
shouting and passing bills, sorry I meant NEPA bills, some go branch
koro go visit seaside, still use our budget money pay for service?
I have spoken to some of these girls, HELLO! I said spoken, as in talk, face to face. This line just sounds awkward.
Anyway, there is nothing I will say that will set me free from the dirty thoughts in your mind right now. Go ahead. Lol!
As
I was saying, most of these girls really do not want to go about
selling their bodies for money, good money at that, if you dey service
upper end Abuja.
Anyway, some of the
upper end Abuja branch girls don dey relocate down town because sai baba
wind of change don blow many people. No more raunchy house parry! If I
hear parry, try am make Magu haunt you.
These
girls will readily drop their runs and take any opportunity that will
help them live a more respectable life. That na the ones wey dem never
dash the work as birthday gift oh. Because, no matter what you do, some
will still not leave the streets because they say the street has taken
over.
Dear
sir, if you really want to stop prostitution in the FCT, enact a law
banning it totally for the person wey dey price market and the person
wey shade market.
I bet you say even the guy wey dey siddon for your side for chambers go beef you.
Bros Melaye, you have a good plan, but let us empower these girls before pushing them out.
If
you chase them off the street, the truth is that one of them go still
end up for your gateman house, because agro must catch your maiguard one
 day.
You know say the gateman house for that una
Abuja go do to pay bride price for Benue state or Anambra sef,  and
train seven children reach university for Asari Dokubo university for
Cotonou.
Bros
no let them go tear your agbada like the other time wey Jagaban wife
use her long finger nail design you oh. A word is enough for the wise.
I think the aim should
be to reduce the attraction that prostitution offers and the wrong
notion among most ladies that it is a viable and lucrative way out of
economic hardship, and not just cutting the leaves of the tree by
banning them from the streets of Abuja.
If this
piece upsets you, please kindly send me an email and I will make amends
with some imported Indian garri and freshly pressed cow milk
